Job Description

At Harper Raine Homes, quality workmanship and beautiful design is non-negotiable. We are a family-run business based in Houston, Texas, led by husband and wife team, Jon Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin. Originally based on flipping houses, our business has rapidly grown to include full renovation services, design consultations, an HGTV show and more. In order to support this growth and continue to provide a high-quality service, we are looking for a Design Assistant Intern to join our team. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have proven experience in administrative work and customer service. This candidate should have a passion for design as well as strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills. If you have an eye for design, a knack for organizing details, and the ability to work within deadlines without micromanagement, we would encourage you to apply for this role.

 

Compensation:

Monthly Allowance and Mileage Compensation

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various members of our construction/renovation/design team so as to meet or exceed clients’ expectations

  • Assist in making aesthetically pleasing idea boards and other documents in order to prepare selections for clients before project review sessions. This may include, but is not limited to fabric, tile, paint, lighting, hardware, etc. (all within the client’s established budget).

  • Gather pricing and lead times for furnishings, fixtures, and materials

  • Assist in the preparation of quotes and estimates

  • AutoCAD drafting/3D rendering of floor plans, including but not limited to elevations, tile and cabinetry drawings. 

  • Track task completion and work with procurement to track order logistics

  • Track hours attributable to each project

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Work some evenings and weekends, as needed

  • Handle stressful, urgent, and diverse work situations daily

  • Attend team meetings or other meetings, as required

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Some local travel will be required

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field

  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience at a fast-paced design firm

  • Proficiency in AutoCad and MS Office 365

  • Proficiency in Studio Designer and online project management platforms (e.g. Asana, Clockify, etc.)

  • Exceptional English written & verbal communication skills

  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail and organization skills

  • Self-starter who catches on quickly and takes initiative

  • Team player who takes responsibility without excuses
